Maxwell Orsen is a visual artist and writer based in New England. He began writing when he was young, but painting eventually became the center of his creative life. His work as an artist has often returned to memory, identity, loss, and the ways people carry their past with them. After losing both of his parents in recent years, writing has started to find its way back into his work. His fiction and painting come from much the same place, although they take different routes. “No Voltage on a Quiet Road” grew out of an interest in family, separation, and the things that remain with us after someone or something is gone.
