We invite writers to submit to the Fractured Lit Micro Fiction Prize from July 20 to September 19, 2021. Guest judge Matthew Salesses will choose three stories from a shortlist.

We're excited to offer the winner of this prize $2500 and publication, while the 2nd and 3rd place winners will receive publication and $600 and $400, respectively. Learn more here.

the 2020 fractured lit ghost stories, fairy tales, and fractured fables fiction prize


December 14 to February 14

The 2020 Fractured Lit ghost stories, fairy tales, and fractured myths, for unpublished Flash Fiction up to 1,000 words, will open December 14th. Three winners will be selected by guest judge Kevin Brockmeier, with $3,500 total awarded. Winners will receive publication and a written introduction by the judge.

Fractured Lit publishes Micro and Flash Fiction from writers of any background or experience. Both Micro and Flash categories are open year round and we do not charge any submission fees. We accept simultaneous submissions but ask that you inform us immediately and withdraw your work if your story is accepted elsewhere. We pay our authors $50 for original micro fiction and $75 for original flash fiction.

Micro Fiction for Fractured Lit is 400 words or less.

Flash Fiction is 401-1,000 words.
